Tillys, a California-based retailer of casual apparel, footwear, and accessories, is proud to welcome professional skateboarders Ruby Lilley and Ryan Townley to their new ambassador program. Tillys’ recent ‘Discover Your Style’ campaign highlights brand values of confidence, self-expression, positivity and spreading “California Shine,” characteristics that Ruby and Ryan embody in all respects.
Lilley and Townley’s sport of choice also directly ties into Tillys’principles. Skateboarding is a powerful vehicle, known for leading youth fashion trends, and serves as a means of building confidence and fostering mental wellness. Tillys is deeply committed to championing mental health, raising awareness, and making an impact by providing important resources to teens and young adults through their partner foundation, Tilly’s Life Center.
“At Tillys, we’re grateful to have been part of skateboarding culture since we opened our doors in the 80s. This relationship helps define our identity and the values we mutually believe in.” says VP of Marketing Bobby Gascon. “With today’s challenging environment for young adults, we’re building an ambassador program to raise awareness on the importance of personal styling as a driving force for building confidence and fueling mental wellness. This approach being paramount within skateboarding, we are extremely proud to partner with Ruby and Ryan to help champion our mutual purpose.”
“I don’t want to be put in a certain category of skateboarding or style.” says Ruby Lilley. “I want to make my own, and Tillys backs me doing that through their Discover Your Style campaign, where they encourage confidence and authenticity.”
“I’ve always dealt with mental health. I also have a lot of friends through skateboarding who have struggled with it. So, being involved with Tillys, which has a huge focus on mental health, is very important not only for me, but for the entire skate community.” says Ryan Townley.
To kick off their partnership, Tillys will be hosting an art show and silent auction featuring original artwork by Townley on December 12th at RSQ Skate in the Irvine Spectrum Center. All proceeds will benefit Tillys’ charitable partner, Tilly’s Life Center. Attendees will also enjoy a live DJ, giveaways, and free tattoos courtesy of Delaney Renee.
